Peanut Butter Squares

This recipe a friend of mine, Nathan, left in my guestbook. He "LOVES IT" - meaning primarily the recipe, I suppose... :-) I decided to keep the guestbook free from recipe entries and replaced it with a link to this page - so, here you go!

Ingredients (makes about 4 dozen squares):

1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup chunky peanut butter
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 cups sifted powdered suger
1 cup (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate morsels
2 tabelspoons shortening

Preparation

1. Combine butter and peanut butter in a 2 quart glass bowl. Cover with a paper towel and microwave on HIGH for 1 1/2 minutes.

2. Stir in graham cracker crumbs and powdered sugar. Press into 11" x 7" x 1 1/2" backing dish.

3. Combine morsels and shortening in a 2 cup liquid measuring cup. Microwave on MEDIUM (50% power) for 2 minutes.

4. Stir well and spread over peanut butter mixture. Cover and chill. Let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Since I do not own a microwave oven here in the U.S. - can you even believe it?! - we have to trust Nathan blindly. But you can take my word for it, he can be trusted blindly, so ... enjoy!
